Snow, sleet cover Rowan

The pre-dawn hours brought a mixture of sleet and snow to Rowan County. Rowan-Salisbury Schools remained open despite the wintry mix. Schools in Stanly County were closed.

Chatter on law enforcement scanners mentioned numerous accidents, some along Interstate 85. Most involved people running off the road. A recent report said Majolica Road would be shut down for four hours after a car ran into a telephone pole there.
