Bullock participates in retreat
Joey Bullock of Salisbury participated in a three-day retreat of the State Advisory Council for N.C. Cooperative Extension, N.C. State University and the Strategic Planning Council, N.C. Cooperative Extension, N.C. A&T State University, held June 3-5 in Winston-Salem.
The 33-member N.C. State University Advisory Council includes volunteer leaders from across the state who help provide policy direction for Cooperative Extension, as does the membership of the Strategic Planning Council for N.C. A&T State University.
The program included remarks by Dr. Jon Ort, director of N.C. Cooperative Extension based at N.C. State University and Dr. Ray McKinnie, administrator of the N.C. Cooperative Extension Program, based at N.C. A&T..
Mark Tucker, Forsyth County Extension director, welcomed the group, along with Dr. Bob Edwards, North Central District director, and George Quigley, chairman of the State Advisory Council and Perry Graves, chairman of the Strategic Planning Council.
The group learned about the production of biodiesel from Sam Brake, an Advisory Council member, a new purple sweet potato from Stokes County by Michael Hylton, Interim County Extension Director along with many other speakers and a tour of the Children’s Home and the Arboretum at Tanglewood.
