Thieves take ATV, trailer

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of nearly $8,000 worth of items from behind a building in the 8000 block of U.S. 52 in Rockwell.
The theft was reported March 25, and happened sometime overnight.
Jimmy Stallings of Peeler Road reported the items missing, including a $3,500 car trailer, a 2004 Honda all-terrain vehicle valued at $3,000, a bicycle and several tables and chairs.
The Honda ATV and trailer have been entered into the FBI’s National Crime Information Center.
Other break-ins and thefts are being investigated across the county:
• Danny Walton of Rockwell reported a $2,500 heat pump was stolen between March 24 and 26 from a multi-family residence he owns on Goodman Drive in Salisbury.
• Herman Peterson of Brook Valley Drive reported someone entered his home over the weekend and took two televisions, an iPad, $500 in jewelry and $100 cash.
• A dishwasher, stove and oven were taken from a home on Amesbury Drive, valued at $1,000. The theft and break-in happened between March 15 and 25.
• A pair of hedge clippers, pressure washer and chain saw were taken from a home on Hyde Lane, reported to the sheriff’s office Sunday. The pressure washer has been entered into NCIC.
• Tony Power of Kannapolis reported someone took a Glock .40 caliber handgun from his car while it was parked on Kenwood Avenue in Kannapolis between Feb. 1 and Feb. 2. The theft was reported to authorities Monday. The gun is valued at $500 and has been entered into NCIC.
• AT&T reported someone did $2,000 in damage to a cellphone tower on High Rock Road between Sunday and Monday, taking tin and copper bars valued at $320.
• The Salisbury Police Department is investigating $500 in clothes and an $800 television taken from a home on Cedar Street between Dec. 24 and 25, 2010. The items were reported missing Tuesday.
• The police department was notified that a home on Chesapeake Drive was broken into Tuesday between 7 a.m. and 5:40 p.m. Taken from the home was a couch, clothes washer and dryer, clothing and $100 cash. Total cost of items taken was $800.
