Rowan weather: Intense heat
Today’s high, under sunny skies, will hit 94, with little breeze. It is another code orange air day — unhealthy for children and adults with any sort of respiratory problems, including asthma. Heat, humidity and poor air quality will make this a miserable day for people who are outside for any period of time.
It is important to protect your skin from the sun and to drink lots of water to stay hydrated.
Tonight will be partly cloudy with a low of 69.
Thursday won’t be much relief, with more sun and a high of at least 92, with little air circulation. The evening hours bring a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a low around 68.
We keep that chance of rain for Friday, but it will be mostly sunny and near 90. Friday night, the chance of showers and storms increases to 40 percent, with a low around 68.
The heat won’t let up for the weekend, either, with Saturday’s high near 91 and a 30 percent chance of afternoon showers and storms. The low will be near 69.
Sunday won’t be any different: a high of 91, 30 percent chance of precipitation, partly sunny skies. Sunday night, low around 69, still a 30 percent chance of showers.
There’s no change in sight starting into next week. Monday will be partly sunny, near 89, 30 percent chance of showers and storms; nighttime low around 68. The only change for Tuesday is warmer temperatures, around 90.
Some of the storms that do develop could become severe, with frequent lightning and heavy downpours. Some showers could move very slowly.
