Nick Carlascio named Kannapolis City Schools’ Principal of the Year
Principal of the Year
KANNAPOLIS — Nick Carlascio is Kannapolis City Schools’ 2015-2016 Principal of the Year. He is principal of Forest Park Elementary School and has led the school to outstanding academic achievement.
Carlascio became principal of Forest Park in July of 2014. Prior to moving to Forest Park, Carlascio served as principal of Jackson Park Elementary School in Kannapolis.
He has led both schools to tremendous academic success.
Forest Park has achieved the highest academic performance in the district and has exceeded the state’s academic growth targets for two consecutive years.
As principal of Jackson Park, Carlascio created a STEM Program (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) and led Jackson Park to meet 100 percent of its annual measureable objectives.
“Nick Carlascio is an outstanding educator and a wonderful school leader,” said Superintendent Dr. Pam Cain. “He inspires students and staff to be their best, and he sets a tone of success throughout the school. He has earned the respect of everyone in Kannapolis City Schools, and I am delighted that he is being honored as our Principal of the Year.”
Another accomplishment that Carlascio has achieved at Forest Park is starting a robotics program for academically gifted fourth graders.
He says the success of his schools comes from the people that work around him.
“I am extremely thankful for our staff and students,” Carlascio said. “They work extremely hard each and every day and make my job a joy. I have been so fortunate to work with outstanding people at Jackson Park and at Forest Park, and I consider it an honor to serve the students of Kannapolis City Schools.”
Prior to coming to Kannapolis City Schools in 2012, Carlascio was an assistant principal in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. As a teacher, he was featured in University City Magazine as a teacher who made a difference, and he was a finalist for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools’ teacher of the year.
He will now represent Kannapolis City Schools in the regional competition for North Carolina Principal of the Year.
