Rowan weather: Is winter weather on the way?
We’ll see sunshine today, but it’s going to be cold, with a high of just 38 degrees. Northwest wind will add to that cold feeling, blowing at 9-16 mph and gusting up to 23 mph.
Tonight will be very cold, 18, with partly cloudy skies and northeast wind at 5-7 mph.
Friday will be partly sunny and even colder, 35, but without the strong winds from the north. Winds will be around 6 mph from the southeast.
Potential trouble arrives Friday night, with a 40 percent chance of freezing rain or freezing drizzle, mainly after 1 a.m. The low will be 27, with calming winds.
Winter weather is possible Saturday, when moisture will spread over cold air at the surface, bringing a chance of freezing rain early, with snow or sleet possibly mixing in later in the day.
Temperatures should warm enough to change to all rain by 9 or 10 a.m. It will be cloudy with a high near 48. Wind will be from the southwest at 5-9 mph in the morning.
Saturday night has a 40 percent chance of showers before 10 p.m., then a chance of rain after 2 a.m. The low will be just one degree less than the high, 47.
The chance of rain jumps to 80 percent Sunday, with rain before 8 and showers afterwards. The high will be 63, warmer than we’ve seen in days. Then things change again overnight. The chance of rain before 3 a.m. is 60 percent, then it turns to a chance of rain and snow. The low will be 31.
That chance of snow continues Monday until around 9, when rain may begin to mix in. But the chance of precipitation is just 30 percent. It will be partly sunny and 41.
Monday night also has a 30 percent chance of snow and rain before 9 p.m., then a chance of snow. It will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 27.
Tuesday again has a 30 percent chance of rain and snow, but it will be partly sunny with a high of 42. Tuesday night will be mostly cloudy with a low of 28.
Wednesday will be partly sunny, with a high near 49.
