Livingstone students attend data consortium

Math majors and their professors at Livingstone College attended a national data science networking exposition at the Frontier-Home Base in the Raleigh Research Triangle Park in February.

The purpose of the National Consortium for Data Science is to allow college students, as well as academic and private professionals, to interact with representatives of regional technology-based companies for product promotion and recruitment.

The expo with data science professionals allowed Livingstone math majors to interact with top employers in the Research Triangle Park area looking to recruit top-tier talent.

Equipped with their resumes, Livingstone students were able to acquire internship opportunities with a broad array of businesses such as Credit Suisse, Honda Aircraft Co., Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, Infosys, IQVIA, Converge and Volvo Group.                                                                                                                                                                      The students were able to have one-on-one conversations with executives from as many as 25 companies. They learned about job opportunities, internships, apprenticeships and the skills needed for a successful career in data science.
