Letter: President must lead country through crisis or resign

I feel like regular letter writer Randy Biggerstaff, but I just can’t help myself. Sorry.

President Donald Trump just announced he wanted a bailout for the airlines. Really? Not employees, the elderly or small business owners? The airlines were the ones who brought the virus here.

No one told them they had to continue international flights when it was clear there was a problem in China. In fact, wasn’t it the government who told them to stop doing so? Airlines begged for deregulation, which they got, and now they want a bailout. They can’t have it both ways.

Mr. president, if you’re not up to the challenge of leading us through this life changing crisis, as you have clearly and repeatedly demonstrated you are unable to do, please do yourself and your country with its more than 300 million residents a favor: resign as President Nixon had the decency to do. Please!

My concerns with the president equally apply to congress. If they cannot put the country’s welfare above their own self interests and party loyalty, then they should all resign, starting with the leadership in the Senate and House. Enough is enough.
